ハイサイ皆さん～！私の名前はエミリ・麻理子・ロング、年は19歳です。私は今アメリカ、フロリダのタンパベーと言う所で住んでます。ここでUniversity of South Floridaに行ってます。秋学期に大学３年生になります。私の母が沖縄市出身で父はアメリカのノースカロライナ出身です． Hi everyone! My name is Emily Mariko Long and I am 19 years old. I currently live in Tampa, Florida, USA and am a Sophomore at University of South Florida. I am a second generation. My mom is from Okinawa City, Okinawa and my father is from North Carolina, USA.

 

１．両親や祖父母、親戚が移民をした理由 私の人生はちょっと複雑です。父は元アメリカ空軍所属です。私は沖縄に生まれて、3歳までに住みました。それで、9歳くらい沖縄に帰りましたが、13歳までに住みました。TT_TT　父は空軍所属に働いてたから、色々な所に住んでました「イギリス、アメリカのミゾーリ、ドイツ、アメリカのフロリダ（今住んでいる）」。 Well, my life is a bit more complicating. My father was in the military, so I have lived in many places in the world. I was born in Okinawa then moved to England, Missouri, back to Okinawa, Germany, and I am now living in Tampa, Florida. So my main reason for moving overseas is because of my father’s job.

 

２．沖縄の人々に紹介したいこと、国の文化や社会など たぶんアメリカの色々なスポーツを紹介したいんです。私はスポーツを大好きです！そして、スポーツして、新しい友達を会って、とても楽しいと思います。それで、アメリカの色々な休日に日本の色々な休日の違い事を説明したいです。 I would like to share the many different sports that Americans do. I LOVE playing sports and I think it is a good way to meet new people and have fun. Also, I think it would be fun to explain and show the difference in American holidays to Japanese/Okinawan holidays.

 

３．あなたの国の日系社会について アメリカの日系社会はあまり大きくないですが、メンバー達は親友見たいんです。私はタンパベイ沖縄県人会に入ってます。この県人会メンバー達はとても優しくて、皆のために世話をしてます。 The community here isn’t very big but they are very close. I am in the Tampa Bay Okinawa Kenjinkai and everyone is very friendly and everyone cares for one another.

 

４．沖縄の子どもたちと若者へメッセージ I would like to let them know that no one is stopping you from following your dreams. If your dream is to come to America, you must do everything you can to achieve that. Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do something!
